Lifestiles was built from a love of handmade clay tiles, and a mission to provide the highest level of customer service. Roofs are the crowning glory of any property, so we work closely with our manufacturers to supply superior quality at a great price.
We currently stock three ranges of handmade clay tiles: Ashbury, Woburn and Ashvale, which all have slightly different characteristics.
Ashbury
Our craftsmen form and shape each tile individually, before they are dried and backed, guaranteeing that no two tiles will ever be the same, producing that texture and subtle colour variation for our finished roof.
Woburn
The Woburn range of handmade clay tiles and fittings has been developed to give the same aesthetic appeal, but with all of the advantages of a new tile.
Ashvale
Each tile is made with varying cambers producing an individuality in appearance, and with an excellent selection of colours and blends, there is an Ashvale to suit everyone’s requirements.

Multi
Handmade Clay TilesThe Multi is based on the reds, heathers and a few dark and orange tiles, but the key to our flagship colour blend is the natural variations caused by traditional firing methods ensuring no two tiles are the same colour or shape and the shades merge into each other, thus avoiding that contrived look, often seen when single colour tiles are mixed on site. At Lifestiles we only want you to have the roof you require. This means that you can edit your “multi mix” to suit your personal taste. The second feature here shows the multi tile but with the orange taken out, this is labelled Ascot. So if you like the concept of the multi mix but have a specific idea please simply contact one of my team and we can make your own bespoke roof, all of which will be pre-mixed at the factory especially for you. Finchingfield
Woburn Clay TilesA textbook example of the traditional English medieval village, Finchingfield is described as the “most photographed village in England”, and has won awards for its traditional picturesque setting. Our Finchingfield hand made clay tile will fit perfectly into this environment without any detriment to the beautiful aesthetics of the existing buildings. It’s orange/red clay is enhanced and mellowed with a subtle weathered looking surface. Lavenham
Woburn Clay TilesNamed after the Suffolk town which is widely acknowledged as having the best collection of medieval buildings in England, the Lavenham handmade clay tile mirrors the character and colours of the roofs of these beautiful 14 and 15th century homes and businesses. The Lavenham is similar to the Medium, but extra character has been added with darker harder fired tiles blended randomly into the crates to give that extra aged patina. [sf_modal header="Request a sample" link_type="button" link_text="Modal link" btn_colour="accent" btn_type="standard" btn_size="large" btn_icon="ss-star" btn_text="Request a sample"] [contact-form-7 id="66" title="Request a sample"] [/sf_modal] -
Medium
Woburn Clay TilesDesigned to give a warmer mellow appeal to the roof than the Old Red, our Medium handmade clay tile is a characteristic replication of a subtly weathered reclaimed tile. With it’s natural colour variation caused by small temperature differences in the kiln, the medium roof works well on all types of property from listed buildings to contemporary new builds. [sf_modal header="Request a sample" link_type="button" link_text="Modal link" btn_colour="accent" btn_type="standard" btn_size="large" btn_icon="ss-star" btn_text="Request a sample"] [contact-form-7 id="66" title="Request a sample"] [/sf_modal] -
Old Red
Woburn Clay TilesTraditionally, all tiles would have been made with clay local to the works and fired red without enhancing the colour with any pigments. It is only in recent years that we have tried to simulate weathered tiles. The Woburn Old Red is the perfect example of these original uncomplicated fired tiles – simply red except for subtle colour variation caused by slight temperature differences in the kiln. Throw them on the roof and leave the weather to do the rest! [sf_modal header="Request a sample" link_type="button" link_text="Modal link" btn_colour="accent" btn_type="standard" btn_size="large" btn_icon="ss-star" btn_text="Request a sample"] [contact-form-7 id="66" title="Request a sample"] [/sf_modal] -
Reclamation Mix
Woburn Clay TilesFor years tile manufacturers have tried to emulate the wide-ranging colours and shapes typical of reclaimed tiles with limited success until now. The Reclamation Mix hand made clay tiles has the texture and shade variation of reclaimed tiles, but with all the advantages of a new tile made to stringent European Standards for quality. Sourcing large batches of reclaimed tiles and matching fittings can be a problem – not with the Reclamation Mix which generally in stock in our yard. Packed in crates that are pre-blended meaning the roofing contractor does not need to blend individual colours as they are laid. Ashvale
-
Kingston
Handcrafted Clay TilesA dark tile which instantly looks old and weathered with varying cambers in length and width. Perfect for repairs to old buildings or creating an established looking new build. The Ashvale clay roof tile is one of the few hand-crafted tiles available on the market today that still involves hand forming and is not entirely manufactured on a machine. The Ashvale offers individuality in appearance and with the various colours and mixes a beauty over your roof scope. Its timeless nature and lasting quality mean the Ashvale clay roof tiles are an ideal solution for any roofing project. Our team of experts is on hand to offer you advice and provide any information you may require. We can give detailed technical guidance and/or general roofing advice over the telephone, by email or during a site visit to suit you individual needs. Designed and produced to give the appearance of an old weathered tile, the Ashvale range look equally at home on renovation or new build projects. The Ashvale® roof tiles are produced in Sri Lanka in a modern facility. (The factory is ISO 9001:2008 certificated). The tiles are manufactured by mechanically extruding the wet clay into a ribbon and then forming the tile by hand. Then during humidity controlled drying a varying cross camber is created in the tile which recreates the texture and imprecision found only on roofs of a bygone era by ensuring no two tiles can be the same shape. They are then fired in modern gas tunnel kilns and packaged in wooden crates ready for shipment. The fittings are formed entirely by hand and then dried and fired in the same manner as the tiles. The tiles are tested in our on-site laboratory throughout their production ensuring they meet the rigorous standards required to meet the relevant British and European Standards. They are then independently tested in the UK (see our technical page for test reports and guarantees) thus meeting all the CE and European standards. Tilehurst
Handcrafted Clay TilesA beautiful hand-crafted tile that is a premixed product with a subtle variation of colours from orange through to red, brown and up to the dark tile. This mix gives a weathered appearance but still allows the roof to look vibrant and striking. After natural weathering the Tilehurst will lose some of the vibrance but will maintain the variation as it matures. The Ashvale clay roof tile is one of the few hand-crafted tiles available on the market today that still involves hand forming and is not entirely manufactured on a machine.
